Training Content - Dover Online CPD

The content of Dover Online CPD will focus on ten ‘sweet spots.’ The proposed schedule for training is as follows:

• July 2016: Self-Managed Superannuation

• November 2016: Business Advice

Each of these areas lends itself to the development and implementation of strategic financial advice that solves real client problems.

What you will need:

All participants in Dover Online CPD will need access to the following materials:

The Australian Master Financial Planning Guide, 2015-2016 (available here); and The Dover website (available here).

Use will also be made of other online materials, so general access to the internet will also be necessary.

Do I Need to Buy the Text Book?

Probably. There are two reasons for this. The first is that the book looks good on your desk when you meet with clients. The second is that the assessment questions are all taken from the text book. Having the text book will be the simplest and quickest way to complete the assessment.

Our rationale for using the Master Financial Planning Guide is simple: it is a well-written, comprehensive resource that is updated each year. We use this as the core of our training and then augment it with substantial materialfrom other sources. Some of these sources will be internal to Dover, and others will be sourced externally.

Assessment

Dover Online CPD is assessed. Assessment is the easiest way torecord participation in the training.

The assessment tasks are not onerous. Each module asks advisers to complete ten multiple choice questions via an online quiz. Successful completion of the module an 80% pass. Advisers may make three attempts to complete each quiz.

When you complete the assessment task, you will receive a certificate for two hours of FPAaccredited CPD. By the end ofthe calendar year, you can have completed ten assessment quizzes. Your certificates will total 20 hours of CPD.

Modules are released once a month betweenFebruary and November. The assessment quizzes do not have to be answered in the month of release; they remain available online until 31 December 2016. The quizzes need only to be completed by the end of the last business day of the 2016 year.

Accessing Online CPD

Simply visit the Dover website at www.dover.com.au/cpd.

Training materials, including the assessment quizzes, are released in the first few days of each month. Assessment tasks do not need to be completed in the month of release. Participants do need to complete the assessment tasks before the end of the calendar year.

That said, participants are strongly encouraged to complete the training on a month-bymonth basis.
